Absolutely, please follow this link to a British Naturism article

Taking your first steps in naturism at Woodpeckers

The idea of getting into naturism can be exhilarating and frightening. We all remember how nerve racking the first time was.

We feel that Woodpeckers is the ideal venue for your first time. It’s a small club on a secure and secluded site. The site is surrounded by fencing, trees and grazing meadows, there is no way that you can be seen by non-naturists.

We like Naked Wanderings site FAQ's, it's informative and not too serious here

The use of a towel to sit on, is a normal thing to do and is minimum expected behavior across all naturist sites and venues. That means that you use a towel when you sit on communal seating, on the picnic benches, in the sauna etc - basically any surface that someone else might also sit on. Please be sure to bring a towel for yourself as we are unable to supply them.

Getting nude at Woodpeckers

There is no pressure to get nude, especially if it is your first time.

You do not need to get naked as soon as you are through the gates.

We don’t care if you walk into the middle of the lawn and drop your clothes or whether you change discreetly somewhere and venture out onto the site grounds when you're ready.

We know that nerves could overtake the situation but nobody will be judging you, there will be no judgement of size, color, creed or any protected characteristic by anyone on site at any time.

We have a static caravan where day visitors can get changed or you can use the toilets or the clubhouse.

There are no lockers on site, your belongings are your responsibility, please make sure you leave anything of any personal value in a location you feel to be appropriately secure (such as your vehicle).

Where can you be nude at Woodpeckers?

You can be nude anywhere, anytime at Woodpeckers in Wales

Many of our members will put on a summer dress or sarong when walking around site, only nude in the confines of their caravan plot. Others are naked all daylight hours and wherever they are. Each person has their own level of comfort in nudism.

After a couple of hours of feeling liberated of clothing, we’re sure it won’t concern you one bit.

Nude only pool

The pool is nude only. No swimming costumes allowed.

The pool is open as a minimum 12 midday to 8pm daily, it is often open much earlier in the day but depends on the cleaning schedule.

Food at Woodpeckers

There is no café or coffee shop at Woodpeckers

You are welcome to bring food on site, we have a fridge freezer for visitor use to store small volumes of food. We have a well equipped kitchen with crockery and cutlery. The kitchen has a gas oven, microwaves, toasters and kettles. All can be used free of charge (but a donation into the honesty box is encouraged).

We have tea & coffee making facilities for visitors on a cash honesty system.

We have some snacks such as crisps and ice-creams at low cost on a cash honesty system.

Bring some loose change.

Explicit Jewellery

Throughout all elements of modern life, there are things that some people do that others will take offence to.

Our threshold is that we need you to be respectful of mature club members and to young children.

Excessive body jewelry or items with the intention to shock are not welcome.

We expect all visitors to be respectful, if you feel that your jewelry is likely to cause offence, please do the sensible thing and remove it or cover up when in shared areas of the club.

Can I just turn up when I want to?

No, all visits must be pre-booked and paid prior to arrival, usually two weeks in advance. Less advance notice is needed for day visits.

You cannot simply drive up to our site, it is accessed via a private road and through a secure gate.

We like it that way, it keeps the club secure and secluded. It keeps the site tranquil for members and visitors.

If you do not book in advance, we will be unable to accept you on site. This is for our security as well as yours.

Club members and plot holders can come and go as they please and do not need to book in.

Do you accept cash?

For the moment, we only accept payments for day visits or overnight stays via bank transfer. We are working on transitioning our credit card payments.

We only accept cash for tea and coffee or small snacks and ice-creams on a cash honesty system in the Clubhouse.

It is advisable to bring some loose change.

Our booking process

The booking process is slow so that we make sure we can look after you when you are on site.

You should ideally allow 2 weeks to complete from enquiry to visit for overnight stays, generally 1 week is sufficient to arrange a day visit. We are aware that this can be difficult planning around our wonderful Welsh weather.

Woodpeckers have no staff, the club is run and maintained by its members who volunteer their free time while visitors are with us.

When you make an enquiry, we will check whether any members will be onsite or whether they could make themselves available for you.

We’ll come back to you to confirm the date is available and ask you to make your payment

The booking will be confirmed as soon as payment is completed and verified by our treasurer. The sooner you pay, the sooner you’ll receive confirmation.

At point of confirmation, we will send you accurate driving instructions and the codes needed to access our secure site.

Whilst circumstances can slow the process of booking on occasion, the pace of enquiries is fast. I'm sorry but we will not hold bookings indefinitely. We normal allow 3 days to complete payment and then the booking will be automatically released to allow others to have the space.

Can I change my booking?

It is all subject to the situation at the time and director discretion.

It would all depend on whether we can accommodate a change of date.

In reality, our charges are very reasonable for what you have access to. You should expect to confirm with us and honour your booking, just as we will honour our commitment to you.

What if the weather's bad?

We will have made a commitment to you to ensure that a club member is available to support you and take responsibility for your health & safety whilst you get orientated with the layout and facilities.

Club members may have changed their plans to support you in welcoming you to site, so please understand our need to clarify your expected time of arrival.

The weather in Wales can be very temperamental at times, but there are some wonderful drives around the local area to visit.

There are still many things you can do at Woodpeckers when the weather is bad, such as using the clubhouse facilities.

How do I become a day member?

To become a member of Woodpeckers involves a few trial visits to the club, either day visits or overnights. It is important for both parties to know that it’s the right decision

After completing your visits, you need to complete a written application form to the committee, these will become a digital form in due course.

You must supply a current picture of all those applying.

Membership forms are available upon email request.

Day members have full access to the club for the extended season 1st March to 31st October, you will be given the codes for the gates so you can come and go as you please.

All club members become part responsible for maintaining and running the club, this includes our "work parties" where members undertake ground maintenance, painting etc.

All club members become responsible for the healthy promotion of naturism and in supporting the newbies that attend the club for their first naturism experience.

Day members have full use of all facilities at no additional charge (aside from the sauna and washing machine). Day members will receive discounted rates to stay overnight on the pitches or to stay in the static caravans owned by the club.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting applications for membership from lone male applicants for a while. We will open up applications when the balance of membership is back within acceptable tolerance.

How do I become a plot holder?

See becoming a day member and then . . . .

Once you are a day member, you can apply for a permanent plot if there is one available or join a waitlist if all plots are occupied.

Plots can only have a tent, a campervan, motorhome or touring caravan for year one.

A static caravan can be placed on the pitch after year one if you wish.

Plot ownership is an ongoing arrangement that renews each year provided membership is retained and relevant fees paid. There is no time limit on plot ownership.

Plot holders become responsible for the upkeep of their plot and can make as many changes as they wish provided they fall within the permitted guidelines. In essence, those guidelines are superseded with the criteria that you must leave the plot in the same condition or better than when you took it over.

As of March 2024, we have several plots available, each with their unique attributes, these are available to view when you visit the site. Please email if you want to come and see what's available.

Plots have water but no electricity. All current plot holders generate their own electricity through solar panels with battery storage. Existing members will gladly explain the best way forward. There is no sewage waste on the plots but there is a chemical waste disposal.

Existing members make it work and have held plots for multiple years, keeping it simple keeps the site more in tune with nature and environmentally sustainable.

Plot fees are a bargain for what you then become a part of.

Annual fees consist of a members fee plus the plot holders fee.

All permanently sited vehicles must be insured and must be tested annually for gas safety and fire prevention equipment.

The club can arrange for all necessary testing through their approved supplier.
